March Workshop: The Basics of Acting - Tues 14 & Thurs 16 March, 2006
A class designed for beginners, or those who have not yet trained, but are interested in learning the basic techniques required for acting with naturalism - a technique used for all screen work, as well as a majority of stage productions.
Using a combination of the Stanislavski and Chekov methods, students will work on scenes during the workshop which will then be put on tape.
Students will be asked to prepare a scene, selected by the tutor prior to the class (which will be sent to them when they book a place).

REPORT ON THE BASICS OF ACTING - MARCH 2006
We ran The Basics of Acting workshop again in March over two weeknights – Tuesday 21 and Thursday 23 March.
Interestingly, the students for this workshop came from Melbourne, surviving the Commonwealth Games traffic conditions and driving the 67 kms required, two nights in the same week.
They worked really hard over the two nights, were a joy to work with and created some great moments in their scene work, which was put on tape for them to refer back to.
The Basics of Acting students weren’t the only ones who made the trip from Melbourne to do the workshops – at least three quarters of the students in The Business of Auditioning also drove down from Melbourne or beyond – and navigated the Games Lanes, road closures and distance to do so.
That sort of dedication and enthusiasm will stand them in very good stead for their future careers and shows a great commitment to their craft.
All in all we had a great group of students over the two workshops and Sally looks forward to working with all of them again in the future.
Our next Basics of Acting workshop takes place on Wednesday May 3 & Thursday May 4, 2006. Email actingup@salmac.com for more information.
"(I was) quite nervous to enter, but Sally made me feel so relaxed and welcome. Thought it was fantastic - inspired me to keep going - re-ignited the old acting bug!" - Emma Rushton, Basics of Acting Workshop
