ACTORS / DANCERS REQUIRED
The Fairies is one of Australia’s top preschool entertainment concepts.
Backed by a TV series currently broadcast daily on Nick Jnr, with a new series commencing broadcast on the Seven Network on 16 July.
The Fairies seek two female characters to play the roles of Harmony and Rhapsody for its next tour, “FairyTales & Nursery Rhymes”. This is a one-hour, high-energy show, often performed three times daily, with 5 lead actors involved in singing (lip synch) and dancing.
Successful applicants will be required from 13 August until 24 November and will be traveling extensively throughout regions and capital cities (visit www.thefairies.com for dates and venues).
A brief on the two personalities is attached. Those who wish to complete a fact sheet should be young and full of energy. They should be passionate about entertaining young children.
They must have excellent dancing and acting ability, and a strong sense of character. Singing voices are not critical however a clear, energised speaking voice is essential.
They should be prepared to be open, honest and loyal to The Fairies and their fans.
Although we like applaud innovation, the personalities of Harmony and Rhapsody have been created over the past 12 years, and the actors in the role will be required to take full direction and work as a part of team. There are no “leads” in The Fairies – each actor is considered equal.
Cast may be in twin-share accommodation. They will be required to apply their own make up, style their own stage hair (a 2-day training course is included) and be responsible for their own costumes.
All travel, accommodation and per diems are included, and contracts will be MEAA approved.
No payments will be made for auditions.
harmony
The Purple Fairy. She is pretty, clever and very considerate of others, and has a wise, logical approach to solving the daily challenges in a Fairy’s life. She is the ‘Ideas Fairy’. She is graced with a dazzling smile, sparkling eyes, wavy blonde hair with a pretty flower wreath.’
We are looking for a dancer that can act (rather than teaching an actor how to dance). A bubbly personality and a pretty smile are required, as is an ability to engage and interact with thousands of adoring children.
Ideally, the successful applicant will be: Age: 18 to 25 Height: 155cm - 165cm Size: 6-10 Skin Tone: Fair Hair: Blonde (or happy to be coloured as and when required)
rhapsody
The Pink Fairy. As her name suggests, Rhapsody is an expression of ecstatic and excitable enthusiasm! Her personality is bubbly, impish and sometimes a bit defiant, in a pre-school way. Best friend of Harmony, Rhapsody is giggly and bouncy and easily excitable. She is very impulsive, often rushing in before she thinks.
Rhapsody should have strong dance ability and be able to act. She should also have the ability to captivate a young audience.
Ideally, the successful applicant will be: - Age: 18-25 - Height: 160 - 170 - Size: 6-10 - Hair: Brunette (or happy to be coloured as and when required)
STAGE 1 Please email applications which include ALL details requested.
STAGE 2 Applicants who fit the “look” we seek, will then be asked to submit a show reel (home made is fine), demonstrating dancing ability and speaking voice.
STAGE 3 Auditions will be held for invitees only in Melbourne (20 July) Sydney (21 July) and Adelaide (22 July).

All submissions must be received no later than the close of business on Friday 12 July 2009
Auditions will be held in Melbourne (20 July) Sydney (21 July) and Adelaide (22 July).
All those auditioning will need to prepare one fairy song (DVD will be provided for actors to self-learn choreography). This will include singing vocals.
A script will be provided prior to the audition, which must be learnt in entirety and performed without script in hand.
Rehearsals will commence Thursday 13 August, followed by a 10-day season at the Royal Adelaide Show, further all-cast rehearsals, and major tour commencing Saturday 19 September.
Please DO NOT submit CVs for actors/dancers who are unavailable for all of the dates herein contained.
